COASTAL TRAINING & ENGAGEMENT
Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve began a series of bimonthly Coastal Zone Management workshops in 1989 to help improve decisions about coastal resources in Southwest Florida. This effort evolved into a forum for professional training, field education and networking for Southwest Florida professionals working to resolve coastal and environmental issues.
Now called the Coastal Training Program, this training model was eventually adopted for use at all of the 29 National Estuarine Research Reserves across the US.
