VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION

Thank you!

Dear Volunteers,

There are no real words to truly express your value to Rookery Bay Research Reserve and Friends of Rookery Bay. We simply could not operate without you.

We missed being able to celebrate YOU at our end of year BBQ, but look forward to our August luncheon and BBQ next March. Please stay safe and we’ll all be back before long!

In Memory of Don Drake

“Don was a father, brother, mentor and close friend for me and I’m sure for others as well. For the last 4 years, Team OCEAN has been his passion…He was the driving force out there on the water, on the beach or on his computer that got things done. He would push, inspire, support.. His enthusiasm and energy were boundless and contagious..

Make absolutely no mistake, Team OCEAN would not be what it is today without Don’s energy, passion and drive. We have all been offered a lasting legacy of dedication, commitment, and pro-active thinking…I for one will not squander or forget where it came from.”

– Jayson Horadam Team OCEAN Coordinator RBR

Don started volunteering at Rookery Bay before I arrived in 2007 so I cannot take credit for recruiting this gem! Don was on my go-to list of volunteers who I could ask to help with specific tasks when I found myself in a pinch. Always willing to run errands or fill in when he could, in addition to his Team Ocean duties.  He spent his last day doing what he loved most. Our staff has many fond memories of Don and we will truly miss him!
