Helping to Protect and Preserve the World's Ocean

September 26 - November 15, 2015

The Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center has now been designated as a Coastal Ecosystem Learning Center! This partnership with Coastal America has allowed us the opportunity to host the Coastal America Partnership's biennial 2013-2014 North American Ocean Art Contest. With the goal of encouraging public understanding of the ocean's importance to all of us, the winning art will become part of a traveling showcase. The 2013-2014 effort will be conducted through the 25 member Coastal America Learning Center network of aquariums and marine institutions, beginning in September 2013. Each participating Learning Center will host a regional exhibition and will evaluate entries for recommendation to the North American traveling exhibit on the basis of strong visual impact, artistic merit and on how clearly the work expresses an appreciation of one or more of the Essential Principles of Ocean Sciences.
