Skimmer Sunset, watercolorFeaturing a central theme of landscape, the Ninth Annual Juried Painting Exhibition debuts at Rookery Bay Reserve on Nov. 6, 2014. The exhibition highlights works of artists from Lee and Collier counties. It is being presented by the Friends of Rookery Bay and the United Arts Council of Collier County.The exhibit, on display through Jan. 22, 2015, was juried by Richard Mueller, Professor of Art at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Featuring a central theme of landscape, the Ninth Annual Juried Painting Exhibition highlights works of artists from Lee and Collier counties. It is being presented by the Friends of Rookery Bay and the United Arts Council of Collier County.

Exhibit Dates: November 19, 2015 – January 29, 2016

Opening Reception: Thursday, November 19, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Most of the works are for sale. The Opening Reception will feature wine and light hors d'oeuvres. Admission is $3 for the public and free for participating artists and their guest as well as members of the United Arts Council and the Friends of Rookery Bay.

gh-artAn exhibit of 25 pieces, on loan from Guy Harvey's personal collection, includes originals, museum wraps, giclee prints, and limited edition prints depicting marlin, tarpon, sharks, sea turtles, and other scenes from nature. The exhibit provides a stunning view into the talent and interests of Dr. Guy Harvey. The pieces are available for purchase, with proceeds going to Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.

Soderquist-Osprey-Perch-2-sA colorful exhibit of island-themed watercolors by artist Linda Soderquist will be on display in the gallery at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center from May 29 through September 15, 2014. Soderquist's "Wonders of the Beach and Bay" exhibit features tropical watercolor paintings features landscapes, seascapes, wildlife portraits, coral reef scenes, and mangrove habitats.

A resident of Little Gasparilla Island, just south of Sarasota, Soderquist is a primary permit holder with Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission for all sea turtle data collection, education, and strandings on Little Gasparilla Island. She also volunteers year round as a shorebird monitor. Soderquist has also been a part of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's water quality monitoring network in the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve for more than ten years. Her education includes a B.A. in Fine Art and Elementary Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master's degree in mathematics from the University of South Florida. She spent many years teaching elementary students, authoring curriculum materials, and leading teacher workshops. Upon retirement in 2010, she began to focus her attention on art and a painting career.

wildflower-smFriends of Rookery Bay (FORB) and the United Arts Council of Collier County (UAC) are seeking submissions for their annual photography exhibit at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center in Naples, FL.
