Las Mejores Prácticas de Manejo para la Protección de los Recursos Hídricos de la Florida por parte de las Industrias Verdes, conocidas por sus siglas en Inglés como GI-BMP, fueron elaboradas mediante la colaboración del Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) y las Industrias Verdes.

Esta clase se diseñó con el objetivo de proveer a los profesionales de las Industrias Verdes el conocimiento, la habilidad y las herramientas necesarias para minimizar la contaminación por fuentes difusas relacionadas a estas industrias. Este programa promueve el buen razonamiento para seleccionar las plantas, y el buen uso del riego, los fertilizantes y los pesticidas, para no afectar negativamente al medio ambiente de la Florida.

Poseer el certificado GI-BMP es obligatorio para registrar una compañía de mantenimiento de zonas verdes en varios condados y municipalidades. Adicionalmete, es un prerequisito para obtener el certificado para aplicar fertilizantes del Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS), el cual es mandatorio para todos quienes aplican fertilizante de manera comercial en todo el Estado.

 

Esta clase también otorga las siguientes unidades de educación contínua (CEU's): 4 FDACS, 4 FNGLA, 2 LUF, Hasta 17.25 ISA, 2.5 CFE (CAT 1) y 2.0 CFE (CAT2).

Fertilizer Calibration

This training provides landscape professionals more in-depth knowledge about fertilization than the Green Industries Best Management Practices program, and includes skill-building opportunities related to proper fertilization. This training emphasizes the minimization of nonpoint source pollution to conserve and protect Florida’s water resources. It covers the characteristics of common fertilizers, the effects of pH, temperature and moisture on release rates; the calculation of application rates; spreader calibration and application techniques. It also covers safe fertilizer handling practices and how to handle fertilizer spills.

CEU's: 2 FDACS, 4 FNGLA,  6.75 ISA & 1 CFE (CAT 1).

The Florida Friendly Best Management Practices for Protection of Water Quality by the Green Industries program, commonly known as the “Green Industries Best Management Practices” was jointly developed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and the private industries related to landscape maintenance, called the “green industries.” This training is required by the City of Naples, Collier County and the City of Marco Island for landscapers to legally work within their limits and by most neighboring municipalities in Southwest Florida. This class fulfills the statewide Limited Urban Commercial Fertilizer Applicator Certificate Program requirement issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

This program provides the following CEU's: FDACS 4, APA 4.75, FNGLA 4, ISA T.B.D., CFE 2.5 CT 1 CF and 2 CT 2.
