How Can My Membership Help?

MangrovesEstablished in 1987, the Friends of Rookery Bay is a volunteer support organization that assists the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve meet its goals.

Over the past five years declining state and federal revenues have threatened to eliminate some of the Reserve's monitoring and education programs.

The Friends of Rookery Bay helps Reserve staff address many challenges in managing our coastal lands and waters. They generate community involvement through an active volunteer program, outreach efforts, and fund-raising events that provide crucial financial support.

Some Important Facts

  • The Environmental Learning Center is a field trip site for Collier County fourth grade classes and many other students.
  • The Center features aquariums, interactive exhibits, a nature trail with observation platforms over water, guided kayak trips, an art gallery, special events, gift shop and more.
  • More than 100,000 people enjoy the Reserve annually for recreational purposes such as boating, fishing and bird watching.
  • Reserve scientists monitor water quality and animal populations, restore sea grass beds, conduct prescribed fires to safeguard habitat, protect nesting sea turtles and birds, educate the public and other users of the Reserve regarding land management best practices, and provide other important research and data to help promote informed decisions in the community.

Membership FAQs

I just joined - when can I start enjoying my benefits?

While you are entitled to start enjoying your benefits immediately, it takes a few weeks to receive your membership card in the mail. If you joined online, you should immediately receive an email confirmation with login instructions and password set-up. Following that set-up, your membership discount will be applied to any applicable event registration online, as long as you log in first.

I joined online, but I didn’t receive an email confirmation. What next?

While sends membership registration confirmation messages automatically, some email providers’ firewall settings identify the messages as spam. Please check your “junk” mail folder. To ensure future delivery, please add to your safelist.

How do I login?

There is a login link in the upper right corner of every page on it will request your “username” which is the email address you used to register, and your password. You can also find a link to login below the programs icons at the “events list” page.

Do I need to log in every time I visit the website?

Not necessarily. Login is only required in advance of event registration online in order to apply your membership discount. Discounts are applied automatically to applicable events when members are logged in.

Can I change my password?

Yes, at the login screen is a “reset password” link. As long as you still have access to the email that the website has assigned to your account, you will be able to change your password.

I need to change my email address - how do I do it?

1. Log in to with your prior email address.

2.Select the option to edit your profile.

This will be the screen where you can change your email address to your new one.

How will NEW Membership changes affect my current membership?

Current members will receive all the new benefits.

What happens if my membership level price has changed?

When your membership expires you will be asked to renew at the new rate. Auto-renew customers will be contacted before renewal takes place.

What if my membership level name has changed?

This change will not affect your membership.

When do I need to show my membership card?

It is best to have your membership card ready whenever you visit the Environmental Learning Center, especially if you have guests. This way the front desk staff can save time checking to confirm what membership level you have purchased to enable quick admission of your guests. Your card is also necessary in order to take advantage of free admission or nature center discounts, as afforded by the ANCA membership included with your Friends of Rookery Bay membership. This includes admission to the Conservancy of SW Florida’s Nature Center in Naples, and many other locations around the country.
