What makes Rookery Bay a special place, in your opinion?
Rookery Bay is a place where questions are formed, investigated, and addressed with our local community needs in mind. The fact that stewardship, education, outreach, and scientific research all work as one large unit is a very special relationship.
What made you choose to work here?
Location, location, location! After living in the Florida Keys and Caribbean for several years, I love the natural environments of South Florida and was excited to relocate to Naples. It is perfectly located to explore the many parks and reserves along the southwest Florida coast. I’m also excited to join the network of 29 National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRs) throughout the US. I’ve been a student and visiting researcher at several NERRs and was always impressed by the dedication of the staff and special environments the reserves protect. My experience in environmental education, marine ecology research, and resource management give me a diverse background to facilitate collaboration between departments and develop new programs at Rookery Bay.
