The Friends' Mission
The mission of the Friends of Rookery Bay is connecting people with southwest Florida's dynamic coastal environment in support of the Rookery Bay Reserve. The Friends helps Reserve staff address many challenges in managing our coastal lands and waters. They generate community involvement through an active volunteer program, outreach efforts, and fund-raising events that provide crucial financial support.

Environmental Learning Center
The Friends is also instrumental in providing assistance with the Environmental Learning Center. From maintaining inventory for the Palmetto Patch Nature Store to hosting special events or offering guided boat and kayak tours, the Friends helps the Reserve spread its message of informed stewardship throughout the community.
Friends of Rookery Bay works with individuals, businesses, foundations and other donors to raise funds that support programs at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and its Environmental Learning Center as well as at schools, libraries and beyond.
